Franco Clivio

Franco ClivioErlenbach, Switzerland

Franco Clivio lives and works in Zurich. He graduated with a diploma from the Ulm School of Design in 1968. In the same year, he began designing products for Gardena, Erco, FSB, Lamy and Siemens. From 1972 he taught design at various universities in the US, Germany, Italy and Finland, and from 1980 until 2002 he was a lecturer at the Zurich School of Design and Art. He published the book Hidden Forms in 2009 on his collection of found design objects. Since 2013 he has curated the NO-NAME-DESIGN exhibition with nearly 1,000 of these objects. It has been exhibited in Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Germany and the Netherlands. His products are on display at the Neue Sammlung in Munich and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
