Conflux: Where Rivers of the Bronx Meet
Mega Infrastructure Redesigned
Conflux is a comprehensive design imaginary that addresses many of the complex issues involved in massive infrastructure projects in underserved communities through the concept of rivers and intersections. By reinterpreting transportation infrastructures, this project transforms the Cross Bronx Expressway (CBE) into a living river that reconnects local communities as it courses through the urban fabric. Robust and dynamic spatial, programmatic and ecological design narratives promote social inclusion and equity but also build resiliency, and respond to the impacts of climate change and the ideals of sustainability.
The vision behind this project is to transform cities from obsolete infrastructures into spaces of opportunity, well-being, and harmonious coexistence. The scale proposal incorporates different uses at different levels.
WINNER STATEMENTThis is truly an honor and a special moment for this project. We worked hard for this award and are very proud to have achieved it. This goes a long way toward stimulating our imaginations and ambitions.
