RE Breath

A device that assists in the implementation of CPR

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) can save lives in emergencies, such as a heart attack or near drowning. Yet many people who have been trained in CPR are afraid to apply it because of concerns over hygiene or fear of improper use and subsequent legal disputes. Re breathe is a kit designed to assist in the application of CPR. The face mask supplies oxygen and dispenses with the need for mouth-to-mouth contact. Audio guidance and video monitoring reassure the user that in the event of a dispute they can prove they followed the correct procedure. Unobstructed breathing and chest press alignment tools also ensure a smoother process.

JURY STATEMENT

This project impressed us through its detailed analysis of components, functionalities and operational logic. The efficiency of the proposed device would need to be tested through use in a real-world scenario, but even at this stage it is a very promising concept.

WINNER STATEMENT

We feel deeply validated by our selection for an iF DESIGN STUDENT AWARD. We hope that this award will draw attention to the lifesaving design issues we care most about.
