Modular electric outboard motor

This modular electric outboard redefines small-scale boating by making sustainability smart and practical. Its lightweight motor folds up and stays attached to the tender, eliminating mounting hassles. Two compact batteries and a smart bracket keep the system modular and practical. With runtimes of one hour at full throttle or ten in normal use, it meets leisure and utility needs. App integration provides GPS safety and driving modes, while a solar-powered charging station enhances its eco-friendly appeal.

JURY STATEMENT

This outboard motor distinguishes itself through a user-centric approach and demonstrates how the transition to electric power can elevate user experience without compromising performance.

WINNER STATEMENT

Winning the iF DESIGN STUDENT AWARD for Future Waves is a huge honor and an amazing recognition of my vision for the future of electric boating. Huge thanks to Umeå Institute of Design and Volvo Penta for the trust, support, and invaluable feedback throughout this project.
