9:28 am - Eternal Love in Light

Public Art Project ( Memorial Light )

“9:28 am – Eternal Love in Light” is a commemorative lighting installation honoring the victims of Taiwan’s 2021 Taroko train disaster. Spanning Heren, Qingshui, and Chongde tunnels, the design transforms a site of tragedy into a symbolic journey of memory, mourning, and hope. Through sequences of amber and white lights, time is marked, frozen, and reversed—expressing loss, stillness, reflection, and the desire to heal. Subtle yet powerful, the project integrates seamlessly with railway infrastructure, offering daily commuters and society a recurring path of remembrance, safety awareness, and collective resilience.

iF Gold Statement

This commemorative lighting installation transforms a site of tragedy into a profound spatial experience. We were deeply impressed by the emotional precision, restrained choreography, and the dignified pacing of remembrance. This is an immersive work of public design of rare sensitivity. It transforms a site marked by tragedy into a space for healing and reflection.
