Talking Tree
AI-enabled nature-based event experience
Purpose Disruptors
As humanity becomes more disconnected from nature, Agency for Nature’s Talking Tree is a groundbreaking experiment using the newest intelligence, AI, in service of the oldest intelligence, nature, to reconnect people with their natural surroundings. Launched at SXSW, Talking Tree gave trees across Austin, London, and Dublin a voice, allowing people to seamlessly interact with their local trees for the first time. Using AI, contextual data and real-time information to create the sense of a living being, the nature-based experience created connection to data in a way that resonated and created 30+ million impressions with zero media spend.
iF Gold Statement
This immersive AI installation takes a highly novel approach to restoring our connection with nature. By blending two forms of AI (“ancient intelligence” and artificial intelligence), Talking Tree transforms mature trees into conversation partners, therapists, and friends. It reminds us that AI, like any technology, can have positive as well as sinister applications. Let's accentuate the positive!
