Wearable cooling for workers in extreme heat

Roofers are exposed to extreme heat, and current body-cooling solutions don't meet their needs. The designers of this concept identified three key requirements: mobility, seamless integration into workflows, and low costs. Fans and cold packs are useless. This solution combines compressed air, vortex tubes, and phase change material (PCM) packs into a cooling system that works well and is easy to use.

JURY STATEMENT

Coldform is a standout SDG 8 project: it is a worker-centered response to extreme heat, improving safety, comfort, and productivity while supporting more resilient and decent working conditions. Great example of practice-led design.
