Hera - Inclusive Learning Companion

Assistive Tool for Students with Hearing Loss

Hera is a learning technology designed for students with hearing loss, for use in classrooms and group settings. Fast, fragmented speech often makes it hard to follow lessons, join discussions, and feel confident. Hera combines a mode-switching microphone with a hub connected to hearing aids to provide clearer audio and AI-generated live transcription. Students can understand speech in real time and revisit missed parts later. By supporting both listening and visual comprehension, Hera goes beyond traditional FM devices and encourages learning, participation, and social inclusion.

JURY STATEMENT

By combining adaptive audio and real-time transcription, Hera supports students with hearing loss. This powerful concept fosters confidence and participation, with strong potential for inclusive care, especially for little ones who are not yet able to manage cellphones and apps.

WINNER STATEMENT

We are truly honored to receive the iF DESIGN STUDENT AWARD for Hera. This recognition strengthens our belief that inclusive design can help students feel more connected and confident, and motivates us to continue designing for more accessible everyday experiences.
