Guide to Co-create Community Bike Sharing Systems

The Nossa Bici guide presents design-based steps to help communities create and manage their own bicycle-sharing systems in places with mobility problems and inequality. Rather than offering a closed product, it provides a participatory process supported by tool cards that guide collective decisions on bike sourcing, rules of use, storing, and shared management. The project transforms design methods into accessible tools, promoting autonomy, community ownership, and a scalable approach to mobility as a social right.

JURY STATEMENT

This is a thoughtful and highly relevant initiative that empowers communities to take ownership of their own mobility solutions. By translating design methods into accessible tools, it enables collective decision-making and promotes autonomy.

WINNER STATEMENT

Design is political. This award celebrates the importance of free, high-quality public education that engages with the community it serves. It promotes the idea of improving society through public investment in research and community outreach.
