Banana-pro-bag
Use Discarded Banana Leaves in Banana Bags
Banana-pro-bag recycles discarded banana trees into banana paper bags and banana fiber ropes to protect the fruits in the growing process. Thanks to the waterproof, firm and insect-repellent qualities of banana paper, it reduces damage to the crop while recycling agricultural waste. After use, the bags and rope quickly biodegrade and enrich the soil. Another ingenious feature: as bananas reach maturity they secrete ethylene, which causes the bag's color to change, thus alerting the farmer that it's time to harvest. Even the bagging process requires far less physical exertion than conventional plastic bags.
The use of recycled packaging, made from the same material it is meant to protect is a wonderful approach to more sustainable packaging.
