MODULE AIR: Adaptive Fracture Fixation Kit

First-Aid for Sports

Module Air is designed to avoid and alleviate pain in fracture patients during transfer. Drawing on the splinting techniques practiced in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Module Air can be easily adapted to different leg sizes and types of fractures. Its combination of hard and soft components (polymer panels and silicone airbags) means it offers the necessary support while being easily adapted to different injuries, reducing pressure and increasing patient comfort before and during the transfer process. The timed inflation and deflation of the three airbags help maintain blood circulation, effectively preventing distal tissue necrosis.

JURY STATEMENT

The impressive aspect of this first aid device is that it combines knowledge from traditional Chinese medicine with modern materials, implemented with comfort and lightness in mind, and a well-proportioned and ergonomic construction translated into an intuitive and friendly product design.

WINNER STATEMENT

We are very honored to receive the iF DESIGN STUDENT AWARD. Health and well-being have always been important issues. We believe that with the efforts of young designers around the world, our world will inevitably become better and better.
