Packaging Labels for Quick and Intuitive Sorting

Correct and efficient separation of waste is a vital condition of recycling. In this concept, the designers have added a colored strip beneath the barcode, indicating the type of waste this packaging belongs to and guiding users to dispose of the packaging in the correct bin. When the external packaging is composite waste (for example, one part is recyclable, another part hazardous), the colored strip will consist of two colors. This design provides a simple and intuitive tool to take the hassle out of waste separation.

JURY STATEMENT

This simple, small yet potentially highly impactful modification to standard packaging labels enhances waste management. The addition of a color strip below the traditional barcode simplifies recycling for busy users, helping them to dispose of waste correctly.

WINNER STATEMENT

I am honored to receive the iF DESIGN STUDENT AWARD. This recognition will strengthen my awareness of great design and inspire me to continue pursuing it in the future.
