Alvar Aalto Foundation

The Alvar Aalto Foundation maintains the material and intellectual legacy of the world-famous architect and designer Alvar Aalto, and acts to make his work and thinking more widely known. The Alvar Aalto Foundation also oversees the work of the Alvar Aalto Academy and the Foundation’s Architectural Heritage Department, which provides expert assistance on repairs of buildings designed by Aalto. The Academy fosters training and research in modern architecture, and mounts architecture events.

Design Statement

Aalto’s design work was marked by boldness, surprize and a desire to experiment with different modes of fabrication and materials. In the same spirit the work of the Alvar Aalto Foundation seeks to promote awareness of the ideas behind Aalto’s architecture, design and planning work.
