Mask prepositioning in Greece
In 2020, Distribute Aid helped to secure hundreds of thousands of masks for displaced people living in refugee camps. Many of these masks were immediately distributed to the grassroots groups we support across Europe. The remaining masks were prepositioned with our partner based in Greece. Since these masks have been prepositioned, any grassroots group operating in Greece can have quick access to more masks as and when they are needed. The importance of this was particularly highlighted when Moria Camp on Lesvos burnt down. This fire destroyed the shelter of thousands, including quarantine spaces. Having quick access to masks was essential!
