It was about 40 years ago that they established "Kiriko Design Office" in Kochi Prefecture being surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and the mountains in Shikoku district, which is about 800 km away from Tokyo, the center of the Japanese architectural field. Currently Masaaki Uemori and Kokutou Uemori are managing the design office. The feature of their work is that they use a lot of local natural materials.
