Luuka Youth Apprenticeship Project (LYAP)
The Luuka Youth Apprenticeship Project aims to increase employment and earnings opportunities for 200 targeted teenage mothers, PWDs & youths in Luuka District, Eastern Uganda through informal technical skills training and business support services. These girls & boys come from a low income families who are trying to meet their basic needs. This project is providing short-term solution to high increase pregnancy rate in Luuka district due to Covid 19 lockdown. As a result of Covid, over 700 girls aged 13 and 15 years were impregnated during the lock down. The majority of these children are likely to miss school.
