Knowing about the origins & processing of materials is more valued today than ever before, yet in light of the acceleration of industrialization, globalization, and digitalization this knowledge nonetheless appears to be increasingly specialized and even more difficult to grasp. If we want to know something about material, we read the backs of packages and testing reports or install Apps that decode different ingredients. In general, such insight only applies to specific products and is largely incidental.
