Prof. Fons Hickmann

Fons Hickmann is among one of today's most awarded graphic designers. He studied communication design, photography and philosophy. The studio Fons Hickmann m23 was co-founded in 2001 with Gesine Grotrian-Steinweg. It varies a lot in size and scope. The staff originates from all over Europe. His Berlin studio focuses on the design of complex communication systems. The activities of the studio include corporate design, book and poster design, magazine design and digital media. “Aesthetics are regarded in a philosophical sense, communications in a social context and design in an experimental manner.” Hickmann says. Practically all of Hickmann’s completed works have been awarded prizes of international repute. Fons Hickmann has taught at several Universities, held lectures and workshops around the world. He is a professor at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and the Berlin University of the Arts. He is a member of the ADC, TDC New York and the Alliance Graphique Internationale. His latest publications: Touch Me There and Beyond Graphic Design.
