Gijs Bakker

Gijs Bakker graduated from the Instituut voor Kunstnijverheidsonderwijs, Amsterdam, followed by his studies at the Konstfack Skolan in Stockholm, Industrial Design Department. He opened the Atelier voor Sieraden (Jewellery Workshop) in 1966 in Utrecht with his wife Emmy van Leersum.  He works as designer and co-director of droog, which he set up together with Renny Ramakers in 1993. Since 1971 he gives lectures and workshops all over the world and he is head of the IM master course ‘Conceptual Design in Context’ at the Design Academy Eindhoven.
