

Gillian Crampton Smith
Domus AcademyMilano, ItalyGillian Crampton Smith (UK) is Director of the Interaction Design Institute in Ivrea, Italy. Studies in philosophy and history of art at Cambridge University, early experience in desktop publishing in the field of book and newspaper design (Sunday Times). In 1983 she joined St. Martin's School of Art, where she set up a new postgraduate course in graphic design and computers for practicing designers. In 1989 she moved to the Royal College of Art, where she established the Compute Related Design Department. She has collaborated in the development of teaching and research programs in several countries, and for seven years spent her summers in Silicon Valley working for Interval Research and Apple Computer.
