Joa Herrenknecht

Studio Joa HerrenknechtBerlin, Germany

Joa Herrenknecht, a German/Canadian furniture and product designer, founded her eponymous design studio in Berlin in 2012 . In addition she is a Founding Member of Matter of Course, an all-female design collective based in Berlin with the aim of drawing more awareness to independent female designers in Germany. Working multidisciplinary on accessory, furniture, light and interior design Joas work includes designing for international brands like Design Within Reach (USA), Bolia (Denmark), as well as work for German labels like Ambivalenz. Her work has been recognized with awards like the red dot award, the German Design award or the Newcomer Award by A&W and has been shown internationally. Joa lives and works in Berlin and Toronto.
