Luis Calandre

Luis Calandre is the Chief Academic Officer of ESNE, University of Design and Technology, the largest design university in Spain and the only one that covers all disciplines related to design at the undergrad and graduate levels. After earning his PhD in Creative Economy, and after a few years teaching strategy at UCM he became Dean of the School of Arts & Communication at the Universidad Europea in Madrid (2005-2010) and then went on to become VP in charge of Education at Shanghai University (2015-2019), China, where he spent four years developing programs and research around the creative industries in a joint venture with the Vancouver Film School. His research interests include the regional economic impact of the design industries and the dynamic skills and competences needed to become a designer.
