Studied music and the history of art in Berlin. Since 1959 has been on the editorial staff of the German weekly DIE ZEIT, contributing features on various aspects of architecture, urban planning, design and photography. Has also written and contributed to a number of books. Various awards and prizes. A member of the Free Academy of Arts and the European Academy of Arts and Sciences in Salzburg.
