Prof. Mikio Yamashita
Sharp CorporationKyoto, JapanMikio Yamashita from Japan studied industrial design at the University of Chiba. After graduating in 1973, he worked as a designer and product planner for Seiko, one of the largest clock and watch manufacturers worldwide. Since 1977, he has worked for the Sharp Corporation as designer, design manager, research and marketing manager. He also worked for a period at their European branch in Hamburg. Since 1995, he has been responsible for strategic planning, organisation and personnel management for the Sharp design group. He is also a member of the Japanese Industrial Designers Association (JIDA) and the Japanese Society for the Science of Design.
