Tom Schönherr

Tom Schönherr (*1954), designer, lives and works in Stuttgart. His career is closely connected with the rise of modern German design. After studying at the State Academy of Art and Design in Stuttgart, his time at frogdesign followed. In 1987, he founded Phoenix Design in Stuttgart together with Andreas Haug – two years later they opened their studio in Tokyo. In 1998, Tom Schönherr and Andreas Haug were awarded the much sought-after Lucky Strike Designer Award. In 2012 Tom Schönherr and Andreas Haug were awarded the German Design Award 2012 in the category “Personality” for their life’s work. Actually Phoenix Design has 40 employees  and has won more than 500 design awards since it was founded. Apart from his work as a juror, Tom Schönherr supports the promotion of up-and-coming designers at university workshops, the Mia Seeger Prize and the Phoenix Design Academy among others.
