Exhibition

The Eye of the Photographer. Industrial Culture in Photography since 1900

Date
Thursday, 7 May 2020
Location
Museum für Druckkunst Leipzig, Nonnenstraße 38, Leipzig
Country
Germany

In the Year of Industrial Culture 2020 in Saxony, the Museum of Printing Art focuses on the medium of photography, which perfectly reflects the diversity of industrial culture. Since the beginning of the 20th century, photographers have been documenting the rapidly changing industrial society, relating people, craft and architecture. The industry offered new, undiscovered motifs, while the economy itself became the client for the image production. The resulting photographs are pictorial documents of industrial culture - often with artistic claims. Guided tours are available within small groups on Sundays.
