iF DESIGN STUDENT AWARD 2023: Last Call for Design Students

>> EUR 50,000 in prize money for the best concepts that contribute to the SDGs of the UN

The iF DESIGN STUDENT AWARD 2023 for students and graduates of all courses of study in design and architecture will close its registration portal in a few days. Until 8 March 2023, concepts that meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations can be uploaded free of charge to www.ifdesign.com.

In addition to awarding a total of EUR 50,000 in prize money sponsored by well-known* companies, iF Design has chosen a special destination for its world-leading competition for young designers: Istanbul – the cosmopolitan, vibrant metropolis on the Bosphorus, straddling two continents!

The iF DESIGN STUDENT AWARD honors exciting, visionary ideas and concepts that make a dignified life possible while at the same time preserving the natural foundations of life. This includes economic, ecological and social aspects.

The competition categories are in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations (1 - 15):

No Poverty / Zero Hunger / Good Health and Well-being / Quality Education / Gender Equality / Clean Water and Sanitation / Affordable and Clean Energy / Decent Work and Economic Growth / Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure / Reduced Inequality / Sustainable Cities and Communities / Responsible Consumption and Production / Climate Action / Life Below Water / Life On Land

New judging process

Starting immediately, the judging process will take place in two steps: In April 2023, all concepts will be evaluated by an international panel of experts in an Online Preselection. The 300 best submissions will then qualify for the Final Jury, which will select the winners in Berlin and honor the prize money to the most outstanding concepts on 17 May 2023.

The Evaluation Criteria

In order to receive an iF DESIGN TALENT AWARD 2023, the concepts have to achieve above-average marks when answering the following questions:

• Does it solve a problem?
• Does it reflect or promote high moral-ethical standards?
• Does it strengthen group relations?
• Does it create a positive experience?
• Does it make economic sense?
