The design of %Arabica, a coffee shop in the Dubai Mall Fountains, one of the largest shopping malls in the world, takes advantage of the high ceilings. The designers built an impressive façade that commands attention. It displays 102 jute bags as an interior element symbolizing %Arabica, creating an iconic façade reminiscent of the many high-rise buildings in Dubai. In contrast to the façade, the simple, integrated materials and continuous indirect lighting in the shop’s interior create a seamless feel that entices people to come inside. The contrast creates a simple and dynamic space.
