When light enters, darkness disappears. Aiming to become that illumination, the “Light Coming” arts festival clears out the haze of the pandemic and lights up people’s lives as a beam of warmth and hope. The 2021 Light Coming, a six-month arts festival taking place in downtown Hsinchu, is Taiwan’s first light festival held inside a city. Through a seven-year organization with the combination of urban engineering and light arts, Hsinchu City Government uses the city as the festival’s venue and successfully improves its city image. Light is used as a medium to interpret the aesthetics of Hsinchu, illuminating the beauty of this century-old city.
