Automated Lab-on-a-Chip Platform

Agilent Technologies

The Agilent 5100 automated lab-on-a-chip platform is the answer to the ever increasing number of tests with concomitant cuts in the number of laboratory staff. Automation and miniaturisation make it possible to carry out assays at the 1 picolitre (1.0 x 10-12 litre) range. The instrument works 20 times faster than conventional models and to a precision that cannot be manually attained. Up to 4,608 samples can be assayed in a few deft movements. Sample handling, analysis, detection and data analysis – all steps are integrated in a single compact system. Standardised user elements support easy handling while the modular design facilitates fast and economic maintenance. The product is suitable for detecting pathogens or developing individualised pharmaceutics for clinical applications.
