A 100-year-old house in Shanghai
Private house
Liu Honghai
The owner was tired of living in a high-rise condominium and chose this house as a new place to live, which is closer to the city. 100 years old, the house has been renovated carelessly over the years and has lost its original shape. It was not a good environment because of the light garden that was destroyed to make up the space, and it was dimly lit. The spiral staircase, which was newly incorporated into the interior, is a distinctive feature of the design, and we devised an irregular spiral staircase to renew the space, aiming to brighten the dark stairwell and fill it with natural light and breezes to make it the center of daily life.
