A Collection–Fading Traditional Trades and Crafts
Book
The Ministry of Education Singapore
The book is essential as it is the second book in Singapore documenting local traditional craftwork, the first being published in 1993. The book introduces 28 invaluable traditional crafts that have disappeared, will disappear or be transformed in the next 20 years in Singapore. The aim is to safeguard a part of Singapore’s heritage cultures through discovery and documentation so that future generations can still read about these crafts even after they disappeared. The main message is only we humans can help protect, support and bring attention to the significance of any cultural heritage, in this case, Singapore’s traditional crafts.
