A-Train

Railway vehicle / suburban train

Hitachi, Ltd.

The new A-Train family of Hitachi combines modern design with modern automated production technology. All types of trains – from suburban, commuter to express trains – are based on the consistent use of aluminium – in the interior as well. The first “visualisation” of this new A-Train style is a suburban train, which combines – within the condensed dimensions of a mock-up – a modern travel environment with innovative solutions for seating, lighting and relaxation. Conceived as a “global product”, the design is a combination of attractiveness and “long-term validity” which is supposed to be accepted by most passengers all over the world in 15 years as well. Natural materials like glass, wood, aluminium and modern textiles were combined with a dedication to detail, which you might expect to find in modern cars or high-quality architecture.
