Elastic cords are the industry standard for microphone shock isolation. But, they degrade and break over time, leaving an expensive mic hanging precariously or falling to the ground. The A300SM shockmount replaces elastic cords with wire ropes. Inspired by a method of vibration isolation used to protect skyscrapers and military equipment from mechanical shock. The wire ropes are tuned to isolate a range of frequencies and maintain their performance characteristics for the life of the product without stretching or breaking from fatigue. They also enable a look well aligned to the materials, processes, shapes and finishes of the KSM353 microphone.
