ARTILLEROOLS
Knife packaging
Cultural Affairs Bureau of Kinmen County
In the past, Kinmen was a battlefield. After the Korean War, there were millions of shell casings left over following artillery bombardment. People used to collect them to make knives and other metal implements. Now, the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Kinmen have come up with the idea of creating historical souvenirs based on the same principle. Artillerools adopt the form of an artillery shell and the blended appearance of Korea's traditional Wind Lion God and a Western-style building. Artillerools transforms the battlefield into a place of peace and creates a new cultural artifact from Kinmen.
