Arts Maebashi

Sign design

This is a branding design for “Arts Maebashi”, a public facility that supports and promotes arts and cultural activities in Maebashi City. Having a concept, “lines connecting points together”, the design idea is developed with a motif of perforated metal that covers the building’s exterior and therefore constructs a predominant image of the facility’s architecture.

iF Gold Statement

We are impressed by the humane and warm effect of this sign system for a building of cultural use. The symbols and letters woven into the metal structure of the façade develop their own aesthetic and subtly refer to the content of the architecture. This approach is unusual and unique for an application that is often implemented in a purely functional manner.
