Active User Wheelchair Backrest

Our project, AU, represents a significant advancement in mobility aids. Inspired by Permobil’s belief that “every person has the right to their disability compensated as far as possible” we have designed a backrest that embodies this philosophy. AU main advantages are to: 1) Specifically target pressure distribution and user comfort 2) Reduce weight, product size and part count 3) Ensure more effective cooling and breathability 4) Extended product longevity, performance and customisability 5) Introduce cutting edge aesthetics to combat stigma 6) Improve sustainability with a heavy focus on additive rather than subtractive manufacturing
