Balhyo Gotgan is a specialty retailer that offers customers various artisanal craft foods. Balhyo means fermentation, and Gotgan is a traditional shed where food and grains are stored. Each region of Korea has its own unique flavors that come from recipes passed down through the generations and reflect wisdom learned from nature. A brand identity and assets were created to deliver these values and philosophy of authentic food through a modern reinterpretation of traditional Korean elements. The flexible branding system based on grids from traditional books was applied in the packaging design to accommodate the potential expansion of product lines.
