Bamboodia
Prosthetics
Bamboodia is a low-cost prosthetic specially designed for teenagers who have had to have a below-the-knee amputation after stepping on a landmine. Because bamboo is bendable and elastic, it is able to simulate the curve of a human ankle. And the elastic property makes it comfortable and effortless to wear for the user. Thanks to the polycaprolactone socket, users can shape the socket to fit their stumps on their own. In contrast to traditionally customized prosthetics, Bamboodia can be produced in mass manufacturing to reduce production costs.
Low-cost, standardized prosthetics using sustainable materials. The modulation makes the prosthetics adjustable for various sizes and lengths. The elastic property creates a comfortable, effortless experience for users.
