BANDEBEREHO (role model)
Behavioural change project
Bandebereho empowers Rwandan families by engaging men in reproductive, maternal, and child health, and violence prevention, tackling the traditionally limited male involvement in caregiving. Its unique approach, using fatherhood as an entry point, effectively challenges harmful gender norms. With proven success—23,000 families reached , significant reductions in intimate partner violence, and improved health outcomes shown by two rounds of randomized control trials(RCT) to date—Bandebereho aims to expand to 104,000 families by 2027, making it a transformative and scalable solution deserving of support.
This initiative deserves to be scaled worldwide. Its culturally sensitive approach and practical learning environment are noteworthy. It is well-planned, with consistent positive results proving that behavior change is possible. What a pleasure to watch the video. Well done!
