DVD

DaimlerChrysler AG Technische Redaktion GSP / TIP

DaimlerChrysler AG commissioned the development of an interactive user manual that could be used inside the car. All contents of the printed user guide for the Mercedes Benz CLS class had to be available on a DVD video. The DVD video was specially designed for the COMAND unit of the CLS class and represents the first electronic, onboard integrated user information system of its kind. The aim of the FELDMANN media group was to design a surface that could be reproduced on the COMAND unit’s display. To this end, the structure of the manual was adapted to fit the medium of DVD, and an independent navigation concept was developed. The DVD is controlled solely by using the rocker switch in the COMAND unit. The original 450 printed pages were turned into some 30 minutes of animation, 10 graphic menus and about 2,000 text and picture clips. The index, containing some 1,000 entries, is hyperlinked and offers a backtracking function.
