Beyond Our Mind
Exhibition Design
National Museum of Taiwan Literature
Entitled "Beyond our Mind", this exhibition explores the relationships (whether those of controversy or caring) between humans and animals as depicted in Taiwanese literature. From the many roles possible within such relationships, six overarching themes have been teased out, titled here as: Spark of the Divine, The Rhythm of Agrarian Life, Pitch-Shifting Industrial Logic, Consumerism Gone Wild, The All-embracing River of Life, and The Zoo Stare. These specific areas consider the roles and social context of animals serving as beasts of burden, as food-producers, as war machines, as lab experiments, as entertainment, and even as beloved pets.
