Breath and Brushstrokes- Chu Chen Nan Calligraphy
Immersive museum exhibition
Taoyuan Museum of Fine Arts - Hengshan Calligraphy Art Center
This is a large scale solo show by the artist Chu Chen Nan that turns calligraphy from page to space. It tackles two persistent problems—public distance from classical forms and frame-bound display—by translating stroke qualities into spatial ones: reflection, layering, negative space. Across five zones, highlights include the Taoyuan Airport calligraphic corridor with its original manuscripts (first time in a decade), a mirror-lined enclosure of torn practice sheets culminating in an 18-meter semi-circular Tao Te Ching, breathing light over layered cloth, life-writing through letters and civic works, and pieces integrated into architecture.
