BresTome is a high-resolution positron emission tomography (PET) system designed specifically for head and breast examinations. By changing the detector position, both head and breast examinations are possible with a single system. Examinations are specialized for these body areas, so images more detailed than from whole-body scans can be obtained quickly. Optimal operability and form have been achieved for each mode, based on “minimally claustrophobic head exams” and “pain-free breast exams.” Shimadzu aims to contribute to society by providing support for diagnosing/researching of dementia and other brain diseases in an aging society and early detection of breast cancer.
