Broken Territories

Art book

In his exhibition “Broken Territories” at the Landesmuseum Wiesbaden, Holger Schmidhuber presented contemporary painterly works on handwoven Oriental carpets to create walk-on paintings. "Broken Territories" continues the journey begun by the exhibition. The sophisticated editorial design frames the works of art and presents them through photography and text, picking up on the principle of “breaking” as a dominating design feature. This finds its substantial expression in the table of contents, which readers have to “tear” open. The book plays with different materials and papers, inviting the reader to draw on all their senses, even sound created by AR implementations.
