Breastpump

Women use breast pumps for medical reasons and also to manage the conflict between the intimate relationship with the child and their own physical or professional needs. It is striking that no woman really likes using a pump; some even regard the process with horror. Breastfeeding is a sensual act, which "happens by itself" when a woman is relaxed. But a nipple being placed under suction in a transparent funnel is neither physically nor psychologically relaxing. For this reason, the interface design is not in the foreground here, the focus is rather on the immediate skin contact. What happens to a breast in the mouth of a baby, how can the familiar feeling of breastfeeding be reproduced in a pump? The proper shape was established using an experiment which reproduced the inside of a baby's mouth as it sucks. The result so far is a manual device that combines the milking motion of the fingers with a small but immediately active vacuum.
