Mooncake packaging

The “Citrus Moon” packaging explores both the context of traditional Oriental heritage and the vivid colors of contemporary esthetics. Abstract watercolors on the exterior sleeve box conjoin the symbolization of the mid-autumn harvest moon, and the rounded figure of the fruit. Adding dimension to the design, the sliding motion of the sleeve box recreates the progression of different lunar phases. The interior box is a derivative of the lunar cycle. Each mooncake represents different lunar phases paired with the corresponding poetic Chinese phrases. The packaging embodies the integration of ceremonial pastry traditions and modern esthetics.
