Sanitary Ware

The Collapse collection comprises two main pieces - a washbasin and a bathtub - as well as sanitary ware, furniture and accessories such as a mirror and a wall-mounted cabinet and containers. The idea was to use 'time' and 'speed' to create a bathroom concept that would include a sense of movement; to use very simple movements on a simple geometric shape to create a product family. The sense of movement is emphasized by water flowing down the almost vertical surface of the washbasin, which gives the collection its unique character. The version selected here combines the purity of Corian with the warm opulence of Canaletto walnut veneer.

JURY STATEMENT

A well designed, clearly thought through and beautiful bathroom collection. Although not conceptually revolutionary, this is a well presented, commercially viable design with a consistent and strong visual aesthetic.

WINNER STATEMENT

It's a great honor for us to win the iF STUDENT DESIGN AWARD. We would like to thank Scuola Politecnica di Design, Rapsel and our tutor Marco Merendi. We think that the Collapse Collection is a great example of a school project that becomes a commercial product.
