Water-cooled server rack

While the efficiency of server, storage and other IT-equipment steadily increases, these components require less space as they get more compact. This causes a dramatic change in infrastructural requirements for data centers. Especially, to cope with thermal load both technically and physically and to manage it. Knuerr has developed “CoolTherm®” as the perfect solution to master high thermal requirements. The patented system through the air-to-water heat exchanger will efficiently cool the environment around the blade servers from 104°F/40°C to 77°F/25°C. Thereby heat loads up to 35 kw can be dissipated in one rack. This concept provides the modern data center with a highly efficient and economic solution. In comparison to conventional data center cooling systems, this enables the provider to achieve 80% space savings and up to 25% savings in energy used for cooling. The design of the server rack and the server door underlines the innovative heat exchange process and outlines the excellent quality of the product.
