CRIC
Life-saving procedure
Surgical cricothyrotomy is a life-saving procedure performed in order to establish a patent airway through the trachea. It is an effective but highly invasive procedure requiring skill and experience. CRIC was designed on the basis of insights and feedback from professional paramedics and is a new type of surgical tool that combines the functionality of the two most basic tools in healthcare: the scalpel and the syringe, in order to provide a new, quick and safe method of performing the life-saving cricothyrotomy procedure under the most difficult conditions possible in pre-hospital scenarios: at an accident site or in a moving ambulance.
